Back in the 1980s, there was a stall selling chee cheong fun at the field of Canning Garden, Ipoh. The locals claimed that the stall served the best chee cheong fun in town, and it was common to see a long queue at the stall every evening.
The stall owner was an elderly man named Uncle Chin, and he was popular among the customers for his friendliness and generosity.
One day, at the height of its popularity, the stall ceased operating without any explanation or announcement. The customers were baffled, and there were many speculations and rumours. Some claimed the stall was haunted by an angry spirit, forcing Uncle Chin to stop operating. Others said Uncle Chin was murdered by a jealous competitor. There were even whispers that Uncle Chin had decided to retire, and moved to Hat Yai.
Now, after four decades, the truth has finally emerged.
